Obscure lyrics…FTW!
Its marching band camp week (not doing that…wahoo!). People are moving in, and there are parents going the wrong way on one-way streets.
It must be back to shcool time. Already? Seriously? The calander must be wrong, this must be some kind of joke.
But no, the 21st is fast approaching. Next week it will be here, and I’ll be sitting in a journalism classroom thinking, “I did this over in the RT Department. Why is this my second major again?”
I’ve basically been running the show at WSIU Sports for the summer, and I’m not going to lie. I like it. Now, its only casts. But knowing that everything sports related goes through me, knowing that I’m the one to do whatever interviews need to be done, getting to make the decisions…its been fun.
Now comes the delegation of responsibilities for another year. The sports department will be bigger, of course, but the buck won’t exactly stop at me. I help out, but my word is no longer absolute.
Well, afterall, who doesn’t like being the man? Who doesn’t like being the guy that makes decisions? And when he must take a step back, when does that man think to himself, “I liked it better when I controled it?”
So, now that you know my dictorial yearnings its time for some things I learned this week.
~That couch will get up those stairs and it will LIKE IT. It will beg for more when it gets up those stairs.
~Vandals liked my bike’s rear tire. I haven’t been that mad in a long time. Oh, the swearing was fantastic. It was loud and pleantiful. I was rated R for a few minutes there. The bike will go into the shop this week, and will not see a Brookside bikerack ever again.
~Gus the Mule…Seahawk MVP.
~In a related note, Crickler is addicting.
Movie Reviews: Talladega Nights: the Ballad of Ricky Bobby
Did you really think I’d let this one escape Carbondale? I went and saw it over the weekend, and was not disappointed. There is kind of a lull midway through the movie where we really needed Will Ferrell to do what Will Ferrell does, but he doesn’t. But, this movie is hilarious, and a treat all the way through.
The racing scenes in the movie are great. I was actually surprised with how well done they were. I mean, honestly, if they had put together some mediocre racing film, no one would have cared, but the fact that they didn’t sacrifice anything makes the movie that much better.
Then again, when you’re bank rolled by seemingly every company in the United States for product placement…you can afford such things.
BTW: If you haven’t seen the movie, look out for Dale Earnhart Jr.’s cameo. Hilarious.
Now its time to read the college football mag. Nick’s going to yell at me if I’m not ready with my pics soon.
Highlander won a grammy.
For what?
Best movie ever made.
Alan
