Obscure lyrics…FTW!
Once again I have this feeling that I should write something here, but I have nothing to really write about. This traditionally happens around exam times, and a quick glance at the calander shows that indeed, I’m due for some serious procrastination.
I was going to fill out a survey and put it on here, but then wondered who would actually read through the whole thing to learn more about me.
As of today I have 19 days left in Australia. 19. That means if I send out my next patch of postcards tomorrow (which I might) they’d arrive with me having a little over a week left in the country. This is the definition of crazy…possibly insane. When I first got here, June 23 seemed so far away. It was in the distant future, one where Godzilla and King Kong helped save Earth from those creepy Mars Attacks aliens. (And the award for weirdest sentnece on this blog goes to…)
My point is, that distant future is now upon me. Its almost frightening. And considering Qantas has kicked up an ad campaign, it makes the thought a bit more prevelent. (Good news: in these ads they mention the fleet of planes they purchased from Boeing! Then they mention the fleet they bought from AirBus…its an upper and a downer of a commercial). Seeing those planes makes me think that I’ll be boarding one in a little under three weeks and won’t emerge from it until 13 hours later.
I also find it interesting that I’m not looking forward at all to the plane trip, considering that when I drive home from school, a 13 hour day is nothing. its typical. Granted, the scenery changes and the air isn’t recycled, but still, the concept is similar. Maybe it is my new found hatred of landing…landing is basically five minutes of me praying for the wheels to touch ground, not out of fear of crashing, but because I feel like I’m going to hurl.
So, I have three weeks left. I have two exams, a trip to Adelaide, and some downtime in there. I’ll go around Canberra some more. Not sure how I’ll spend these last 19 days.
That said, as much as I’m not looking forward to the plane ride, I am increasingly looking forward to being home. About this time in any semester, my mind tends to drift towards home, and this is no exception. Now, will any of my friends be there?
In other news…
I bought a rugby ball. Now I just need to get it deflated so it fits in a suitcase. Its a nice ball, I look forward to throwing it around the park, pretending to be Jarred Hayne leading the mighty Parramatta Eels to a Premiership. Go the Eels! By the way, in a feet of sheer procrastination, when I watch the Eels-Tigers match tomorrow night I will have watched all 8 games this weekend. I’m proud of myself.
Oy…I’m not feeling to insiteful tonight. I think I’ll go to bed…or read more journals. Until then…
Following you across the Interstate walking away,
Alan
