Obscure lyrics…FTW!
I’m back in the states, currently in San Fransisco. My flight is delayed…not that Alaska Airlines has told us, I just noticed them retyping the boarding details. Customer service at its finest!
Already a bit of a culture shock coming back as there’s a mass of people. Australia is low in population density, so coming through the airport is a bit overwhelming, but strangley normal at the same time. Its like deja vu, which as you know, means they changed something.
Headline on CNN, “SIU: How to Rob a Bank.” I have not heard of this course, and it might be more profitable than radio/television. Nevermind that it stood for Special Investigation Unit, I am convinced Bank Robbing 121 is taught Monday and Wednesday at 9:30 in Wham 104.
Plane ride over was cramped and I didn’t sleep. So yeah, I’m full of energy right now (I have plus energy from the large Hefeweisen I just downed!)
A few other humerous points from the hour or so I’ve been in San Fran…
My conversation with the clerk when checking in.
Him: You’re good to go to the gate.
Me: Ah, cheers, mate.
Him: (looks at me funny) Uh, yeah…
Going through security, I’m putting my shoes back on when one of the guards spots my Parramatta Eels shirt. He says, “Ah, Aussie rules…” At this point I debate correcting him, but then he catches it “No, rugby league.” I just nod, then he mumbles something about Penrith. Wrong team there, jack…
In case you’re wondering, and you are, the Mighty Eels were victorious once again due in part to two tries each from Luke Burt and Jarred Hayne and my not being in attendence in their 36-16 win over the Roosters. Go the Mighty Eels!
One final story, at the bar I met two guys from Philly. One reached across me for some napkins, and apologized. I said, out of habit, “No worries.”
A little while longer I told them I had just come from Australia. One of them responds “No wonder you said ‘No worries’!”
Going to the M’s game tonight. They’d better play better than they did last night. But, I’ll be there so…who knows.
Its currently 1:20, we board at 1:35, there is no plane at the gate….I can’t wait to see how this ends!
One man caught on a barbed wire fence,
Alan
EDIT: Plane is here, it ended well. Time for a two hour nap!
I think the M’s did better because you were in attendance.
