Obscure lyrics…FTW!
I don’t know if you recall how I planned on celebrating graduation, but here’s that post.
How I’m Going to Celebrate Graduation
Basically, it involved a replica Stanley Cup and Queen’s Greatest Hits. I own neither at the moment, so here’s We Are The Champions at Queen’s 1986 concert at Wembley Stadium.
That video proves, above all else, 80s fashion needs to come back.
And in other news…I made it. I finished college. In February, I will even have a shiny piece of p[aper (with my name spelled correctly!) that says so. I graduated cum laude, which according to my siblings is Latin for “You did WHAT?!?!?”
A few weeks ago, those of you who are on Facebook know, I was thinking this equated to getting up after a bad movie. Then I did not have a sense of accomplishment, mostly because I had found class to be mind numblingly boring. As one of my friends said, “I just feel like class is holind me back.” He and I had agreed that we were ready, it was time to move on.
Then I wore a funny cap and gown, saw family, toasted a lot of drinks, and by some combination of all that I felt like yes, I had accomplished something. Its a good feeling this accomplishment.
So, it came as a fun surprise to learn that I could feel accomplished again. I got a job. Its at a radio station in Salem, IL doing news reporting stuff. It’ll be a change from sports, but I think I’ll enjoy the challenge of it. My first interview led to a job, I was pleased. I’m batting a thousand, its nice and way, way more than Richie Sexson can ever dream.
Oh, I would toast some more drinks if he were say, a Cincinnati Red or something.
So, I graduated, got a job. Things are good. It should be a hectic time, but should be fun.
Have a Merry Christmas/Hapy Haunkah/Jolly Kwanzaa out there on the Interwebs.
By the way, if this didn’t cheer you up, I read on Wikipedia that Journey’s coming out with a new album in 2008. Perhaps 80s fashion WILL come back!
I want to take you far, from the cynics in this town, and kiss you on the mouth,
Alan

We’ll cut our bodies free from the tethers of this scene,
Start a brand new colony…
Postal Service… Brand New Colony. I win!
Yay for jobs! And Yay for getting to hang out last night! WEE!
I bet Richie Sexon is jealous that you got a job. (I here he’s looking….)
