Tubasaluki: Quoting music since 2003

So, tonight I got to cover the Centralia Relay for Life kickoff, an event that had many cookies. Considering I hadn’t eaten since 10, I did indeed partake. You know those cookie sandwiches that have the vanilla cookies with the cream filling? Delicious.

Anyway, I realized as I pulled into the parking lot that I did not have a tape recorder. This is what is known as a “slight problem”. After all, I’m only supposed to get audio from this event that we can play on the radio. Oops.

However, I remember from one of the random times I was playing around with my phone and found this feature that sounded like it might record things. I’d never tried this function. I didn’t know what it could do. But, not unlike Obi Wan Kenobi, it was my only hope.

So, after the function, I go up to the director.

Me: So, I forgot a tape recorder.

Her: Uh oh.

Me: So, I’m going to use my phone. I hope this works.

We chat for a bit, she seems excited about the upcoming Relay. I am hopeful that this idea somehow works.

I get back to the station. The phone jack is to big to go into my phone. So, I decide to try the one last possible technique. I hold the phone to the microphone and hope it will sound somewhat decent in Audacity.

Now, given the title of this post, Im assuming you, as Paul harvey says “know the rest of the story,” If you don’t here’s the skinny: it worked. Granted, the audio quality wasn’t “great” but it was tolerable. It was decent. My phone became a little bit sweeter.
