So hey, I should update

I’m sure there is a small percentage of people on Facebook or whatever that would really like me to update this blog so they can know all of the scandalous juicy details of my life. Those people are about to be let down considerably, as I don’t have any scandalous juicy details in my life. Sorry.

When we last left off (football post doesn’t count) Our Hero was tired of driving, attended a wedding where he partook a bit from the hotel bar, and was being attacked by the Vicious Nephews of Tigard.

Currently, I am still looking for work. That has been quite the discouraging process what with the dead ends and the what not. I was hopeful to get some interviews, but that hasn’t happened. I’ve gotten few e-mails telling me that stations or papers have gone with other people. This has not been what you may call “a good time”.

So, in the meantime, I’m coaching cross country. I do enjoy that. The kids are great, the teams are both competitive, and I get to work out everyday. Its a nice way to get out of the house. Also, finding that I enjoy coaching has made me think about maybe going into education. The thought has crossed my mind more than once, and if nothing opens up media wise, well who knows.

And really, thats about it. I have more time to read now, and I’ve finished a few books. I finished The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. Then I read a historical account of the death of Meriweather Lewis. I lightened it up with the ever entertaining I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell, and then read Scratch Beginnings, which is quite the inspirational tale that was written by Adam Shepard. Currently, I’m somewhere between reading the Bourne Identity and noticing it on my pillow each night before I go to bed. First chapter was good though!

Other things that have happened since the last post…

Alan goes to a Husky game: I went to the UW-LSU game. My friend Nick brought me, warning sternly that if I did anything to piss him off, he’d leave me down there. So, I decided to make fun of LSU the entire time. This is not hard, given the singing of Rocky Top or asking if they have a loss to Georgia to get to is sufficient in doing this. I enjoyed the game, though was disappointed that the two women that bring cherries soaked in Everclear were not in attendance.

Alan goes to a Seahawks game: my sister and I went to the Seahawks-Raiders pre-season game. We had good seats, and as soon as we got there the Raiders were backed up on their own goal line, right in front of us. I think I was hoarse in four plays. When Aaron Curry demands noise, you give him noise, alright? The fact that Deion Butler made a nice catch and run to score in front of us didn’t hurt either. At half time, I learned that Thai noodles and hefeweissen compliment each other nicely. I also hypothesized that Qwest Field is probably the only NFL Stadium where one can get Thai noodles. I feel sad for the other 29 stadiums.

Alan goes to a Cougar game: Its a tri-fecta of football, as I made a second trip down to Qwest to watch the Cougars play Hawaii. Despite really, really wanting a beer at half time, I went with Jones Soda instead. Delicious. The Cougars played bad, though better than a year ago. The day was largely uneventful, though spent with family which is nice. No Thai noodles this time.

Thats it for now. Maybe I’ll post more in October. Hopefully with good news even!
